South Carolina's Oldest Miata Shop and Rotary Specialist.
Sports Cars, Etc. has a large portion of it's tuning, modification, and enhancement background based on Mazdas.
The rotary engine is familiar to us. Our experience with rotaries dates back to the late 1970's with the RX-4 (4 port 13B) and early 12a rotary FB RX-7s, while most of what we see currently is the more modern 13b (6 port NA and 4 port turbo) powerplant found in the FC and FD generation RX-7s. Rotaries are excellent for responding to tuning and developing power for motorsports applications while maintaining lightness, and meeting the smaller displacement requirements of many different types of competition classes.
Beginning in 1995, the Mazda Miata became our next platform to specialize in for maintenance, modification, and tuning. As a result, Dread Nought Racing has been campaigning Miatas since 2001, running in and winning the first Spec Miata race in the SCCA - SEDiv (April 2001). We have many hours of competition behind the wheel in these little roadsters, and apply this to the 1.6l and 1.8l BP power plants found in the first two generations of the car, and MZR 2.0l powerplant found in the 3rd generation Miata. We are also well versed in forced induction applications (turbo charging and super charging) across all 3 generations of MX-5.
Many of our current performance builds and tuning focus on customers with Miatas wanting to improve their car's weight distribution, power output, braking capabilities, engine management computers, handling characteristics, or safety for track use.
Whether it's the RX-7, the Miata, or other Mazdas like the Protege, Mazda3, or RX-8, Sports Cars, Etc. is a great source for Mazda tuning, modification, and parts advice.
