2000 Mazda Miata Roll Bar Installation
The Mazda Miata is a wonderful sports car, but like most small convertibles, it's not a bad idea to add some roll-over protection. This has the added benefit of significantly stiffening the chassis.
This particular Miata elected to have a Boss Frog Dual Hoop roll bar installed. Boss Frog no longer makes roll bars, but this bar is noted for it's sturdy brace design that goes over the transmission tunnel. This greatly increases the strength of the car and the bar. That makes it worth finding a used one for installation.
So with a good, reliable bar it's time to get started. First, the rear interior components need to come out for access.

So with a good, reliable bar it's time to get started. First, the rear interior components need to come out for access.
From there, we install the individual bar components to mark where the holes will be drilled for mounting. The chassis wiring harnesses, and seat belt mounts are moved and modified where necessary to fit this specific bar design.
Once the alignment of the three separate major pieces is confirmed, the holes are drilled and the interior panels and carpet are modified to fit around the bar. It is then installed.
The last steps are to reinstall the seats and the center console. It's a great looking bar, and sets the car off nicely.
