Advanced Clutch Technology
From the desk of ACT:
ACT's most popular Heavy Duty pressure plate and most popular street disc. ACT Heavy Duty pressure plates use exclusive diaphragm design to increase clamp load, reduce deflection and maximize clutch life. All diaphragms endure a four-stage, heat-treating process for unparalleled performance. ACT pressure plates have precision cover stampings to provide rigidity and consistency. ACT's Performance Street discs feature premium organic materials with high copper content for better heat transfer and steel-backed lining for greater burst strength and durability. These discs have reduced marcel for faster shift action to complement ACT pressure plates, with increased strength and reliability.

HPMotors has had great results with ACT products in both our street car and race applications, naturally aspirated or boosted, across several makes and models of vehicles. This particular set-up offers a great balance of drive-ability and ease of use while also being able to handle higher levels of torque. It's what should be used in the majority of performance applications. All kits include T/O bearing and pilot bearing.
'90-'93 1.6l Miata owners making high torque with turbo/supercharger setups can upgrade to the kit designed for the 1.8l cars to handle the extra power, but will need to do so by sourcing a flywheel for a 1.8l car.
The reverse swap can be done for '94-'05 1.8l owners with lower torque, high revving naturally aspirated builds that are looking to reduce reciprocating mass. Sourcing a 1.6l flywheel will allow you to use the lighter 1.6l clutch kit.
Build Your Own ACT Kit.
If you don't believe the standard performance clutch kit ACT offered above is going to handle things, don't worry.
ACT offers a wide range of options for your competition build depending on what your end goals and purpose are. You can choose your combination of pressure plate and clutch disc here. All kits still come with T/O Bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment dowel. Some of these combinations are not at all street friendly, and should only be used in performance applications where they are truly required.
