when Franklin Roosevelt was a young man and the Vanderbilts were throwing
extravagant summer parties on the lawns overlooking the Hudson River,
Hyde Park Motor Company began operating one of the first automobile
dealerships in Dutchess County. Incorporated in 1922, Hyde Park Motor
Company has always put an emphasis on service and customer satisfaction
- we even pumped gasoline back in those days.
In
1987, we opened a second store on Route 9 in Hyde Park, right down the
road from the Culinary Institute of America, and began selling and servicing
Peugeot automobiles. Hyde Park Motors added the Jeep, Eagle franchise
in 1990 to further serve the community with the full line of Chrysler's
offerings.
Today, Hyde Park Motors is proud to be the first again,
by becoming New York State's only employee-owned new car dealership
in 1998. This gives us a completely unique perspective - from the sales
department, to the service department, to the parts department - no
matter who you talk to at Hyde Park Motors, you're talking to the owner!
In the future, we will only grow to serve you better.
We are constantly working to build a stronger relationship with our
customers. After 81 years, we still believe in the honesty of a handshake,
and the idea that our success is measured by your happiness.
Thank you for your interest in this brief history
of one of the area's most well-known and well-established businesses.
If you have any old photos or stories you'd like to share about Hyde
Park Motors, please feel free to contact us at this site, or just stop
by, we're always glad to see a neighbor.
